One debris flow boulder was selected as a preliminary memorial. It was carved in to a sculpture/bench and placed in the garden at San Ysidro Ranch (which was severely impacted by the event of 9 January 2018).

Thanks to Joan Chackel for the donation of this boulder which came to a rest on her property on Hot Springs Road. Without the assistance of Mike Harrington at Stoneyard Materials this project could not be realized. Daniel Pazzon (Da Ros Masonry) engraved the backrest and dedication, to honor his relative lost that day. And grateful appreciation to the San Ysidro Ranch ownership for understanding and supporting the desire to memorialize those lost in the tragedy and providing a permanent site in their beautiful garden for reflection.

Massive and perfect wire cutting the boulder into the sculpture done by Michele Bandinu of Custom Architectural Stone in Solvang. What a process!

Harry Rabin volunteered his filming skills and recorded the installation on video/still/and by drone! Santa Barbara Monumental Co made the perfect stencils for 23strong and the dedication.

Patrice Handley wrote the perfect, thoughtful and heartfelt blessing for the Dedication.

Very appreciative for the advice and suggestions from Supervisor Das Williams.

Thank you in advance to Cameron McIntyre for the upcoming documentary short.

And thanks and hugs to so many friends and supporters who contributed funding to make this memorial happen.
